Today, thanks to the opening of public procurement data, it is possible to know how tens of billions of euros are spent annually by the State, local authorities, and administrations. Do you know the impact of the health crisis on the number of awarded contracts? Do you have an idea of the average distance between buyers and suppliers for construction contracts? What about service contracts? Are you aware of the proportion of contracts that include social and/or environmental criteria? The average weight attributed to these criteria? Their evolution over the past years? The opening of public procurement data allows for a fairly accurate understanding and more. This book introduces citizens to the analysis and citizen control of these uses of public money. It also opens the way to new empirical studies that were previously impossible due to the lack of data.

Pierre-Henri Morand presents his book “Where Does Public Money Go? Public Procurement Facing the Challenge of Open Data,” to be released on October 13, 2022.
